This free cancer screening includes a comprehensive oral cancer examination administered by a dental or medical professional. If in the examination, a suspicious red or white spot is detected, the dental or medical professional may refer you to a provider to perform a painless brush biopsy test to determine if there are any potentially pre-cancerous or cancerous cells present or suggest another appropriate treatment option.

2012 NJ Marathon & Half Marathon

Register to run or volunteer. There are so many ways to participate in the 2012 marathon & half marathon in Long Branch, NJ. You can choose the 13.1-mile half marathon, pair up with another teammate for the half marathon relay, or run the full 26.2-mile marathon. You can also join our team of volunteers and help support our runners!

Remember, registration closes on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 for the full marathon and Friday, February 3, 2012 for the Half Marathon and Half Marathon Relay.

Preparing Life-Planning Documents

Free Lecture

Pat Rocourt, Esq. presented crucial information on wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and living wills at the Phillips Ambulatory Care Center. The presentation, which took place on Tuesday, February 28th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm was the first in a series of four lectures courtesy of a collaboration between THANC and the Cancer Advocacy Project.

We thank Pat Rocourt, Esq.; Vivienne Duncan, Executive Director of the Cancer Advocacy Project; and Eugenia Drobitskaya, Law Graduate for the Cancer Advocacy Project for their time, effort, and expertise. It seemed that those in attendance discovered something new and received great advice relating to the topic of wills and other life-planning documentation.

Holiday Charity Luncheon and Boutiques

While it was cold and raining outdoors, that certainly didn't affect this amazing event. Charged with the positive holiday spirit, this event was superbly organized by a warm, charity-motivated committee. This witty and welcoming group of women came together to generously support our cause and their friend—THANC Foundation Board Member—Carmela Sagendorf. When the guests arrived, they were greeted, checked-in, and shown into the main hall where a variety of vendors, auction items, and raffle prizes awaited them. Of the many vendors there, one of the most notable was a local confectioner who brought an array of treats to sample. Another whose work caught my eye was an entrepreneurial designer who blended her beautiful and detailed graphic art with functional household items.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and are so thankful to those who contributed to managing and directing behind the scenes of the event.
